TWO SIGNATURE ‘SEVEN MAGIC MOUNTAINS’ EVENTS COMING SOON TO LAS VEGAS

Seven Magic Mountains producers invite the Las Vegas community to two upcoming public talks designed to provide an engaging, entertaining learning experience. Oriented around themes presented in the incredibly popular Seven Magic Mountains by Ugo Rondinone, these FREE events welcome an interactive public dialogue.

ARTY TEA PARTY II

WHEN: Saturday, November 5 / 1 pm

WHERE: UNLV Marjorie Barrick Museum, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway, Las Vegas, NV 89154

ADMISSION: This event is free and open to the public, with a suggested voluntary contribution $5 for adults; $2 for children and seniors.

WHAT: An informal exchange of ideas about what makes monumental public art, and the documents that keep them in front of the public eye. This “high tea and cookies soiree” begins with a discussion about successful and iconic public art such as Seven Magic Mountains by Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone. Social networking as a document of a public’s response to sculpture will be explored as well. Seven Magic Mountains has deeply impacted Las Vegas’ art profile, and photography helps keep the isolated art in the public eye.

WHO: Discussion led by Ed Fuentes, UNLV MFA candidate, and author/founder of Paint this Desert. Panelists include Nevada Museum of Art Director of Communications, Amanda Horn, who has been the public liaison for Seven Magic Mountains; and Robert Tracy, Associate Professor of Art History at UNLV, who pushed forth landmark status for the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and whose art research led to papers that are still cited in publications about Los Angeles architecture.

VISUALS/INTERVIEWS: Pre-interviews with Amanda Horn can be arranged on-site at Seven Magic Mountains Friday morning between 9 am and 1 pm. Interviews at The Barrick can be arranged Thursday with Amanda Horn or Saturday morning prior to the talk with Amanda Horn, Robert Tracy, or Ed Fuentes. Cameras are allowed during presentation. Numerous still images and video clips of Seven Magic Mountains are available upon request.
